Electric Radiant Heaters

Electric radiant heaters are most popular in the form of space and floor heaters.

There are a variety of electric radiant heaters out on the market, and which one you choose depends on your needs.  Some radiant heat is designed to warm a large area and a great number of objects, while other options include space heaters, which offer the portability and convenience to quickly heat a small area.  The price ranges, and installation requirements can vary greatly.  Also what you can expect from your investment varies from the type of radiant heat you choose.  So the first step you should take, is deciding which type of electric radiant heaters could be for you.

The two main styles of radiant heat are space heaters, and radiant heat flooring.  The radiant space heater is usually a small box that can be rectangular or tower shaped.  Radiant heat works from quartz coils that produce energy that can be transferred to objects in the immediate area.  By using a space heater, you can warm up the objects in the immediate area so that they are much warmer to the touch.  This is extremely useful in cold weather, to save on heating costs, or to heat a smaller area to a warmer level than the rest of a room.

The space heater type of electric radiant heaters is extremely useful because of their portability.  You can take one on the go with you, so if you travel, you can take your radiant heater along to guarantee your sleep will be comfortable and warm.  That’s the real effectiveness of a radiant space heater.  But the downside is that a space heater won’t heat larger rooms or spaces.  A small radiant heater is only useful when in a small area, because the warmth does not spread over a great distance.

To warm more massive spaces with electric radiant heaters, radiant flooring is probably going to be more your flavor.  Radiant flooring is installed by placing radiant heat coils underneath the floorboards of a room in your home.  This way when the radiant heat is on, the entire floor will become warmer, which will in turn spread to the rest of the room.  This can be very expensive, but will benefit you by being more energy efficient than regular heating methods.  Plus you no longer have to worry about cold barefoot walks down your hardwood floors in the morning.

If you’re looking to install radiant flooring, you’ll first have to measure the room you want to heat.  That way you have accurate measurements so that you can get a good idea of how much this will cost you, by seeking out price quotes from radian heat providers.  Some of the best places to go for electric radiant heaters are home improvement oriented stores.  That means places like Lowes, Home Depot and even Menards will have a variety of options.  Usually the stores will also offer installation, and professional installation is usually the way to go, to make sure the operation runs smoothly.

Electric radiant heaters will save on money, and energy resources, so they would be a smart addition to any home.  Decide which type would fit your needs best, and you’ll be rewarded for your investment, with heating savings throughout the years.
